1. To defend and improve the environment of the Woronora Valley, the interests of its community generally, its amenities, and the quality of both its natural environment and its urban environment.
2. To act as a non-profit and non-commercial community group as required by law, and not to act to advantage improperly any business or individual.
3. To promote the environment, amenity and interests of the community generally, while avoiding direct involvement in particular issues or disputes of individuals; there may by exceptions when the law or the association's Constitution, Rules, Objects or Principles may apply to individual cases.
4. To advise and promote the Association's Objects, Principles and community attitudes to Sutherland Shire Council and others.
5. To encourage and lead active involvement in community affair, but to avoid direct involvement in party politics.
6. To use Association funds for the benefit of the community or to further the Objects and Principles of the Association as it sees fit.
7. To ensure that any proposed development which may affect the Woronora Valley, its residents, land or waterways, is consistent with the Objects and Principles of the Association, and/or community expectations.
1. All natural waterways and land areas are especially sensitive and must be treated with utmost care and respect.
2. Protection of our urban waterways and bush character is a vital priority, particularly in sensitive areas such as foreshore, escarpment, valleys, gullies and ridges; they should not be available for the redevelopment or rezoning without majority community support, consistent with our Objects and Principles.
3. All development affecting the Woronora Valley area should aim to eliminate intrusions or negative impacts of the natural environment or on the existing character of our urban environment, wherever possible; unforeseen problems from past development should be re-assessed and resolved as they arise.
4. New development within the Woronora Valley area should not exceed the typical standards (e.g. population density) which currently exist in the area, unless there are reasons acceptable to the community and/or offsets to compensate.
5. Wherever possible, the visual impact of development should be minimised by natural screening of shrubs and trees, or by technological or decorative means which are acceptable, if natural means are not practical in unusual circumstances.
6. Plants or animals with a potential to be invasive or damaging should not be allowed to upset the natural equilibrium.
7. All members are to act honestly and in good faith in matters of this Association, according to law, the Constitution and Rules, and the Association's Objects and Principles; they must declare any interest, potential bias or conflict of interest at meetings or discussions, and/or to abstain from voting.
